Presentation & objectives
The Globe-Trotter Collection is not a reading method per se but a comprehensive series of beautifully illustrated children's story books based on the simple and/or complex vowel sounds of the French language. It offers a playful language immersion to young readers - Beginners Level - and young readers - Intermediate Level.
Like “English Phonics books” commonly used today in English speaking countries, each album focuses on one single phoneme (or on a combination of them) and its/their graphemes.
Grapho-phonological and narrative needs imply an unavoidable compromise as to the structure of the stories. However the colourful and detailed illustrations are very explicit and close to the texts to facilitate comprehension and ease readability.
The complete collection includes 2 levels:
Beginner Level / 5 albums: 18 pages of illustrated text + Audios files
Intermediate Level / 9 albums: 26 pages of illustrated text + Audios files + Activity books
The objectives are to contribute to :
exercise auditory attention
sharpen the sense of hearing
educate the ear to perceive phonemes
identify rhymes and assonances
pronounce and articulate distinctly
encourage interactions (questions / answers)
